Internships that Make a World of Difference

Hello Blog Reader,

In my last email to you, I mentioned the emphasis we have on values and how a biblical worldview will affect every part of your life and ministry. I often wonder what the world will look like when whole nations are discipled. We won’t see the perfection of God’s kingdom here on earth until Jesus comes. However, I take his command seriously, don’t you? He said, “Go, make disciples of nations.” I hope your interest in YWAM Converge is because you want to obey Jesus’ command too. But how do we even begin such a task?

I believe the best place to start is to obey the two simple commands that sum up everything else. Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind’… and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matt. 22:37-39)

Love Does.

Love is not simply a feeling. Love is always active. There are four kinds of love that are communicated through four Greek words; Eros: romantic love, Storge: family love, Philia: brotherly love, and Agape: God’s divine love. Just as love has four types, sometimes public and sometimes private, love’s witness, Christian witness, has four types, which are sometimes private and sometimes public. We are discipling future leaders to “Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.” (Micah 6:8)

Making Disciples.

Spiritual formation is not only a private world discipleship. Loving God is not just about how you think or whether or not you pray and meditate on God’s word. Loving God is expressed by loving your neighbor, which takes you out of the private world of prayer to the public space to share that faith. Even more, that love of neighbor is demonstrated as a good citizen who obeys laws, cuts grass, and votes in elections. And sometimes that love will be expressed prophetically, out in the public arena caring for the needy or raising awareness about injustice. To truly disciple all nations through every sphere of influence there must be a convergence of the sacred calling with the secular career, loving God and our neighbors. At YWAM Converge we are making disciples who are active witnesses in all four arena.

How could you help?

Converge is for students and young professionals, but we need volunteers, people like you who can help us fulfill our mission. With Converge, you can help make a difference in the lives of emerging leaders by sharing your love for Jesus Christ and your global neighbor.

YWAM Converge is focused on mobilization of students into all four arena. We disciple students to know God and make him known, first through prayer and intimate friendship, and then through public witness into spheres of influence to bring transformation to society.

For Christ and his kingdom,
