My son Justin David Henry is at Fuller Theological Seminary. Classes have been moved to online. He let me read his paper on John 15 – “Abide in Me,” Jesus said. Good stuff.

When we spoke Justin joked that Jesus was saying, “Self-quarantine in me.” I see that. But it’s not all about isolation; it’s about getting our identity and source in Him. He is our peace, our health and our hope for the future. He is the original gardener, communicator, teacher, law giver and just judge, architect and builder, healer and Father of all families.

When we self-quarantine in him, we are identified as the “branches.” We are therefore trimmed by the good Gardener for greater fruitfulness in every area of living, and we are “cleaned” by the High Priest of our faith. We are set apart, holy, because we are intimate with the one who is holy.

“If my holiness is not drawing others to Him, it is not the right kind of holiness; it is only an influence which awakens undue emotions and evil desires in people and diverts them from heading in the right direction.” – Oswald Chambers
