Don’t Cut Me Out
Saul of Tarsus began his career reaching for the top. Nothing and no one would dissuade him. A perfect record. Until he met Jesus.
Everything flipped. Now he must suffer. Breaking that old mold of religious perfection, he became the conveyor of the new life in new lands. No longer in lockstep with an exclusive vision of a pure breed with a pure set of rules, he sat at every table with the welcoming warmth of the Father. He pioneered that pattern of inclusive invitation. Only Jesus. If you follow Christ, really follow him, you’ll be misjudged like him.
“You stare and stare at the obvious, but you can’t see the forest for the trees. If you’re looking for a clear example of someone on Christ’s side, why do you so quickly cut me out? Believe me, I am quite sure of my standing with Christ. You may think I overstate the authority he gave me, but I’m not backing off. Every bit of my commitment is for the purpose of building you up, after all, not tearing you down.”
